Many people tend to believe they should start out with the highest dose of nicotine in order to make a smooth transition to vaping; however, they may inadvertently end up getting way more nicotine then they did through tobacco smoking.
Start out with a lower dose and increase only if you feel the need to.
Batteries and atomizers are the two items they need replacing the most, although there are tricks to making your atomizer last longer – see the next tip.
Once you know for sure that you like the brand of electronic cigarette you purchased, and don’t plan on switching, purchasing extra batteries and atomizers are well worth the cost. As you are aware Magic Mist carries batteries and cartomizers that are compatible with just about every brand out there.
Key is never to run out of inexpensive, quality stuff – so that you do not return to cigarettes.
If you’re about to make the switch from traditional tobacco smoking to vaping, here is a look at five tips that can help making the transition much smoother.
Purchase several chargers
Unless you work from home, and/or rarely leave the house, a car charger can be a life saver. They’ll allow you to vape while driving without the need to drain your batteries. For those with a long commute or who have to frequently travel, this is really a must.
Another similar strategy that very often gets overlooked is to buy several chargers – one for the home, the office and an extra in your car. Buy extra batteries or whatever it takes to ensure that you never run out and switch back to cancer sticks. Chargers and batteries do not cost that much.
An article released on Friday, September 14, by CSP Daily News reports that sales of e-cigarettes continue to be rising over the last 12 months and most retailers expect the trend to continue. Some retailers have even experienced their sales doubling.
One of the retailers noted that “customers are getting more familiar with them and are more willing to try them,” while another stated, “With cigarette smoke becoming socially and lawfully unacceptable in public facilities, e-cigs offer an alternative.” He adds, “Our society in general may not be so offended by nicotine as much as the smoke tobacco cigarettes create.”
It only makes since that the trend is shifting from tobacco to vaping. Without the hazards of second hand smoke, in addition to far less harmful effects and being much cheaper to use, could tobacco use eventually become a thing of the past?
In Australia, officials approved a move towards using plain packaging just last month, which will force tobacco companies to remove all branding from their products. They will only be allowed to sell tobacco in generic olive green packets along with graphic health warnings. Australia’s laws have become the toughest in the world, and many feel that other nations will soon follow suit. Tobacco companies are worried that this will set a global precedent.
Some believe this highlights the move toward banning tobacco altogether as officials in the UK and across Europe as well as the United States are working on introducing similar legislation. Could the next generation grow up without tobacco?
With e-cigarettes providing the nicotine hit without the inhalation of some 499 chemicals and without the danger to others of breathing passive smoke, it is feasible to imagine a world where vaping is the norm and traditional tobacco smoke fading into the past like manual typewriters and rotary-dial telephones.

Many people love to use coupons, and if a product is listed as being on sale, most consumers will automatically choose that product over the one that is regularly priced. While it makes sense on the surface, it pays to take a closer look.
The V2 e-cigs brand currently offers a 15% off coupon on their website, which sounds like a great deal. Who doesn’t want to save 15%? But when you look at the cost of a five pack of cartridges, their price is $12.95 each. With The Magic Mist, there is no coupon, but the price for the same five pack is $9.45; more than a 25% discount.
Shipping charges must be considered too. While V2 is touting alternative shipping via UPS, it isn’t free. For one five pack of cartridges the total with The Magic Mist is $9.45. That’s it. With V2, despite the flashy coupon pop ups, the total assuming the discount is used, including the $5 flat shipping rate, is $16. That’s 40% higher than The Magic Mist.
ProSmoke has a great deal on that same five pack. The regular price is $14.99, but it’s on sale for $8.99. Unfortunately, that price doesn’t include tax; that’s added when the buyer checks out, bringing the total to $9.69 (no matter where you live apparently), already higher than The Magic Mist. Add $2.50 for standard shipping, and the actual price is $11.49; 18% higher than The Magic Mist.
It’s easy to see where this is going. By doing some simple calculations, you’ll get a clearer picture of the real cost. While discounts, sales and coupons are a great selling strategy, they are often not so great for the consumer.
Some consumers will travel far and wide just to use that coupon that promises an amazing deal, not considering that the cost of fuel to get them there was more than that amazing discount. It pays to look at everything associated with your transaction, whether online or in person. Buyer beware!

With millions of tobacco smokers making the switch to e-cigarettes, it’s not surprising that quite a few celebrities have done the same. In fact, in quite a few households, it was by watching an appearance with former “Grey’s Anatomy” actress Katherine Heigl’s on a late night talk show a couple of years ago that highlighted the existence of electronic cigarettes.
While some observers, especially those who have a strong aversion to tobacco smoking, consider the habit to be unsightly at best, the fact is, traditional tobacco cigarettes contain 499 chemicals and a host of health risks, and making the change to vaping should be applauded not denigrated.
Unfortunately, both tobacco smokers and vapers experience prejudice, but perhaps with time and education that will change. In the meantime, Hollywood has taken to the trend in the same way that many of us across the planet have; kicking the nasty tobacco habit for good.
A few of the other celebrities who’ve decided to makeover at least one of their bad habits includes Leonardo DiCaprio who has frequently been captured on film smoking an e-cig. The actor is frequently working hard at supporting a number of good causes, including directly working with orphaned children in Mozambique as well as helping to stop global warming and donating massive amounts of cash to charities like International Fund for Animal Welfare, Feeding America and Global Green.
Supermodel Kate Moss has switched to electronic cigarettes, while famed “Twilight” stars Robert Pattinson and Nikki Reed, all vape. It’s hard to imagine anyone thinking that these celebs are “disgusting.”
Reality TV stars Josh and Jake Harris from The Discovery Show’s “The Deadliest Catch,” famously quit tobacco smoking and switching to vaping after their father Phil died in 2010. Phil died from a stroke that was brought on by his heavy tobacco smoking habit, and the brothers are determined to help others with the same problem that killed their dad.
Just this past week, a new study was released showing that the use of electronic cigarettes is not associated with acute adverse effects on cardiac function. According to researchers from the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center in Athens, Greece, they reported that eCigs are considerably less harmful than smoking tobacco while at the European Society for Cardiology 2012 Conference in Munich, Germany.
This is good news for the over 2.5 million people in the United States who are estimated to smoke electronic cigarettes. Researcher Konstantinos Farsalinos, MD, also added, “Considering the hazards associated with cigarette smoking, currently available data suggest that electronic cigarettes are far less harmful, and substituting tobacco with electronic cigarettes may be beneficial to health.”
Of course many more studies will have to be performed before any firm conclusions are made about their safety, however, the news is certainly encouraging and likely not very surprising to the many who have quit smoking traditional cigarettes in favor of vaping. That illustrious smoker’s cough that many tobacco smokers develop, frequently disappears after the switch is made to eCigs.
With e-cigarettes currently the only device that satisfies both the chemical craving for nicotine as well as the psychological addiction that comes from having something in your hand as well as lighting it, inhaling and exhaling, many preliminary studies have shown that attacking the addiction from both sides helps many more people quit the tobacco habit.
Scientists in the study found that after smoking one tobacco cigarette, acute myocardial dysfunction was clearly detected, but after using an e-cigarette for seven minutes, no adverse effects on cardiac function were detected.
In addition, according to Russell Luepker, MD, of the American Heart Association, “The e-cigarette has the advantage of not having the thousands of other chemicals, besides nicotine, that a real cigarette has.”
While it remains to be seen what the future holds for e-cigarettes, the initial outlook appears to be good news for those who hope to quit smoking traditional tobacco cigarettes, although it may be seen as bad news for the profits of the big tobacco companies.

There are a number of reasons traditional tobacco smokers make the switch to ecigarettes. Their friends and loved ones may have been nagging them about the noxious smell that lingers on their clothes, their breath, in their car, and basically everywhere they go.
When compared to a traditional cigarette, an electronic cigarette doesn’t contain tar and has 99.9% fewer carcinogens while the traditional cigarette contains over 4,000 chemicals including known carcinogens and 400 other toxins.
With ecigarettes, those who vape inhale a vapor that is not only much less harmful to the body, but those who are around the smoker are not subjected to toxic second hand smoke or the annoying smell that permeates through everything.
While these reasons are likely on the forefront of the tobacco smoker’s mind when making the decision to get rid of traditional cigarettes, there is yet another strong argument for doing so when considering the cost of ecigarettes as compared to traditional tobacco cigarettes, and that’s the cost.
Consider how much the tobacco smoker will shell out for a pack-a-day habit. While prices vary across the nation, $7 is about the average cost per pack. Multiply that by seven and that’s $49 per week.
The average pack-a-day smoker will likely go through about five ecigarette cartridges per week. With the cost of those at around $10, or even less when purchased in bulk, that’s a savings of $39 each and every week, or over $2,000 per year.
In today’s economy that’s certainly not small change. What would you do with an extra $2,000?
Invest the money and turn it into more? Buy a new wardrobe and replace those old tobacco smelling clothes? Go on a trip? Perhaps there are some bills you’d like to pay off and reduce some of the stress that comes along with it.
Make the switch today and watch the savings pile up!

Every day it seems that yet another work place, city, county or other public place has decided to ban electronic cigarettes. They believe their actions are justified because of appearance, with some stating “electronic cigarettes are often mistaken for regular cigarettes; possibly leading tobacco cigarette smokers to assume incorrectly that they can smoke and may even light up their conventional cigarettes despite the ban on tobacco smoking.”
If that sounds like rules made up for a kindergarten playground, I’d have to say I agree. This ridiculous legislation outlaws a safer alternative that is used by many law-abiding citizens with no harm for second-hand smoke or any other threat for that matter. It could even force some people to return to smoking tobacco. Does this make any sense whatsoever?
Could it be that the federal, state and local tax revenue that is slowly being lost as the Big Tobacco market share falls is causing some legislators to panic? They seem to be doing whatever they can to preserve their massive cash flow that comes in from tobacco smoking, although it seems unconscionable that they would do such a thing in light of the fact that it kills so many of the citizens they are hired to protect.
For decades big tobacco companies lied about the risks of smoking – it took an incredible battle against these major corporations, as well as many courageous people, before it was determined that Big Tobacco engaged in decades of conspiracy and civil fraud.
Are they doing whatever they can to keep their sales of tobacco cigarettes from declining even further? Are legislators afraid of losing their cash cow?
Unfortunately, with so many of these companies continuing to lobby legislators, with obvious benefits to both sides, it doesn’t seem that either have the best interests of the people in mind.

Posted ine cigarettes|Comments Off on What’s really behind the eCig bans?
Popular smoke free eCigs may truly be the wave of the future. With cities across the nation implementing smoking bans, many die-hard smokers began to search for alternative methods to get their nicotine fix.
Just this week, Bonnie Herzog, the managing director of beverage, tobacco and consumer research for Wells Fargo Securities LLC, stated that she believes use of electronic cigarettes could overtake consumption of traditional cigarettes within ten years. The bottom line is, both Herzog and many of their industry trade contacts agree that it is more than just a fad.
There are said to currently be 2.5 million eCig users, and it’s been estimated that retailers can earn three times the gross profit on eCigs as compared to traditional cigarettes.
With numbers like that, no wonder the industry is growing. Everyone benefits- from the former tobacco smoker who is no longer subjecting his or her lungs to the dangers of smoke, to the nonsmokers who used to have to breathe secondhand smoke (not to mention the bad smell), and even employers who have more productive employees who aren’t running outside to puff on their cigarette all the time.
There is another huge benefit to eCigs in that it’s a lot cheaper than buying a $6-7 pack of cigarettes every day. A package of five cartridges costs less than $10 and typically lasts a week. Compare that to the $42-$49 a week for pack-a-day smokers and the savings are substantial.
Could the future see a world without big tobacco companies?
It’s certainly possible, and the more that eCigs continue to evolve and offer an experience that is more and more like smoking a traditional cigarette, the more consumers will decide to make the switch.
